until death do us apart
No, this ist not some romantic shizzle whizzle. In fact this might not at all be to your liking. What I want is to talk about death. Why? Because death is everywhere even if it doesn’t really exist. Now one might say how can death not exist if there is life. That is exactly the right question. From my point of view life is as much real as death – the both aren’t. If you look into the microcosm then life is just a bunch of a few billion atoms. Now nobody would say atoms are alive whouldn’t they? They are just protons, neutrons and some electromagnetic waves around. How could this be life? And if it isn’t alive how can it die? Well against all odds we die. Animals die, plants die, it seems everything dies (well except the atoms of course). Death is a natural part of life and dying is the process that will get you there. Now the question I would like to ask is what an unnatural course of death is. Of cource if you stumble over a suspiciously placed cable and fall into someones dagger, you might want to call this an unnatural course of death. A lion attacking a zebra in the steppe for food is a pure act of violence and at the some time means of life. Looking at it with a bit more distance allows a different perspective. Humans kill to survive, they kill for money, they kill for power – some wackjobs even kill for pleasure. Summed up people killing each other is a common behaviour within the rows of human beeings. As such being killed could be defined as a natural course of death since it’s a natural instinct or behavioural pattern of us. Now let’s recapitulate this: There is no such thing as life and thus no death but all kinds of deaths are natural. And still you’re telling me not to kill some lowlife animal for lunch even if you kill a hundred times more plants for your daily meal. Tell me – who’s the mass murderer now? Plants are alive like animals they just don’t have the organs so scream! Now don’t get the wrong idea of me. I still eat plants and I like to eat meat. After all it’s a bunch of atoms as I am myself and as such two kinds of dead matter are still dead combined. A unity that will end when I myself will be eaten by an animal or burned and recycled into nutrients for plants.
